**LESSON DEVELOPMENT**

Dear Teachers! In this Part, B-link will guide you step by step in Developing a Full Lesson. These steps follow All important requirements needed in this Era where Students are Center of Learning. By the End, you will have
  • 1. A Complete delveloped Lesson Plan,
  • 2. A Relevant Lesson Notes,
  • 3. A well formatted lesson Activity,
  • 4. An Exercise,
  • 5. A reference audio teaching a Lesson you developed,
  • 6. An environment for you to record your own Lesson audio. All of these are to ease your preaparations.

LESSON 2.52: BASIC APPARATUS OR EQUIPMENTS FOR MEASUREMENT OF MASS
    Introduction
Mass is the amount of matter in an object.
Different instruments are used to measure mass, depending on the required accuracy and purpose.
Choosing the correct instrument ensures accurate and reliable measurements.

    1. Beam Balance

    • Use: Compares the mass of an object with known standard weights.
    • Example: Common in school laboratories for measuring objects.
    • Special Type: Triple beam balance – more accurate and easy to use because it allows sliding weights along calibrated beams.
    2. Electronic Balance

    • Use: Measures mass very accurately and provides digital readings.
    • Accuracy: Can measure very small masses, sometimes down to milligrams.
    • Application: Advanced laboratories and precise measurements.
    3. Spring Balance

    • Use: Measures mass by the extension of a spring.
    • Example: Measuring small weights in home or market settings.
    4. Kitchen Scale

    • Use: Designed for everyday cooking to measure ingredients.
    5. Platform Scale

    • Use: Measures large packages or goods.
    • Application: Industrial use or warehouses.
    6. Weighbridge

    • Use: Measures the mass of vehicles.
    • Application: From small cars to heavy trucks.
    7. Top-Pan Balance

    • Use: Measures small to medium masses with good accuracy.
    • Application: Laboratories and educational purposes.
Summary Table of Mass Measuring Instruments
Instrument Use / Application Accuracy Level
Beam Balance Compare mass with standard weights Moderate
Triple Beam Balance Laboratory use High
Electronic Balance Precise digital readings Very High
Spring Balance Home, market, small weights Moderate
Kitchen Scale Measuring cooking ingredients Low to moderate
Platform Scale Large packages Moderate to high
    Weighbridge Vehicles High
Top-Pan Balance Laboratory & educational use High

    Key Points
    • Each instrument is designed for a specific purpose: laboratory, kitchen, market, or industry.
    • Using the correct instrument ensures accurate, reliable, and efficient mass measurement.
